Something is always flourishing in the Algarve. Even if the Algarvios are seen here with a scarf, hat and fur collar, it is not really cold also from November to February.

Everywhere in the Algarve, on house walls, on fences and on pergolas you can see bougainvillea in different colors.

As beautiful as this plant is, the thorns become very long and extremely hard. Beware of truncated shoots, a shoe sole (own experience) does not really protect.

When driving through the mountains and through the hinterland you will find beautifully flowering plants and wild herbs all year round.

What you have to buy in Central, Eastern and Northern Europe for a lot of money in the flower shop, this often grows here on the wayside or on a traffic island, such as this Strelitzia.

The paintbrush (Haemanthus amarylloides) flowers in late September / early October. The plant is native to Southeast Asia.
