The cliffs begin immediately at the southern outskirts of Lagos. They extend over about 8 km up to the border of the county of Vila do Bispo and are punctuated with small bays as well as with the beaches in Porto de Mos and Luz.

The coast in the county of Lagos surely belongs to the most beautiful places that nature offers. Starting from the outskirts you still can see a few resorts with hotels and apartments but then you will be walking on the paths above the dream beaches Praia Dona Ana and Praia do Camilo towards Ponta da Piedade. The trails are quite good to walk on. You determine the starting point for hiking yourself. Appropriated are Lagos, Piedade, Porto de Mos or Luz.

View over the bay of Lagos. When the weather is fine (thus on more than 300 days per year) it is always busy on the water.

The coast is rugged and untouched, the paths change from year to year because parts are washed away, again and again, during the months with rainfall.

According to the sun exposure the rocks seem to have different colours each time.

View from Porto Dona Maria over Luz toward Ponta da Piedade.

Shortly before the border to the county Vila do Bispo. One can discover this part of the coast quite well on foot. Partly exist hiking paths, and the routes are marked.

TIP: Please take enough beverages with you and wear a hat or a baseball cap. The sun has very much power especially in summer and around midday.
