Igreja Matriz de Sao Brás de Alportel
The origins of the Igreja Matriz de Sao Brás de Alportel date from the 15th century. The first documents trace back to the year 1518. They describe the visit of the order of Santiago. At the same time reconstructions and renovations took place that were realised by the population.

The earthquake of 1755 caused big damages. By the end of the 18th century the building was rebuilt and also expanded on this occasion.
Fortunately, the interior of the church appears hardly oppressive. Onto the main altar and the side altars are illustrated biblical scenes.
