Mexilhoeira Grande is a small town and a community (about 4,050 inhabitants) in the county of Portimão.

Coordinates: 37° 10′ N, 8° 37′ W

The small town is situated in the northwest of the county and about 500 m north of the N125. The streets in the town center are narrow and winding. The community is mainly agricultural.



The typical blue and white townhouses line the alleys. Banks, shops, small supermarkets, restaurants, cafés and bistros can also be found in town. During the season many visitors of the Algarve live here. To the beaches you go only a few minutes by car.


Mercado Municipal


The market hall of the town. The opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 7 h.



The range is limited, the products are fresh.


Capela da Senhora dos Passos


The Capela da Sra. dos Passos is situated upon a hill in the northern part of the town.



From the courtyard you have a beautiful sight onto Portimão and the Atlantic.
