Museu Municipal de Arqueologia

The museum is situated in the old town hall (until 1980).

The exposition is with regard to 4 issues:

  1. Prehistory
  2. Roman era
  3. Moorish era
  4. modern world

The items exposed originate from the county of Albufeira.

Opening hours:
1st of September to 30th of June: Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and on holidays from 9:30 to 12:30 h and from 13:30 to 17:30 h, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.30 to 17.30 h.
1st of July to 31st of August see above, however Thursday and Friday 14:00 to 22:00 h.
Closed on Mondays. Entrance fee: 1,00 € – Children before 14 years: free.


Museu de Arte Sacra

The museum is located in the Ermida de São Sebastião. The chapel was built in the 18th century and has been re-erected after it had been damaged through the earthquake of 1755.

The exhibition includes icons from various churches of Albufeira which in part have been destroyed.


A collection of hand-painted tiles (Azulejos) from the 16th and 17th century originates supposedly from the now ruined, former main church Igreja Matriz de Albufeira.

Summertime: 10:30 to 16:30 h and 20 to 23 h
