The village Burgau, with about 1,500 inhabitants, belongs to the community of Budens in the county of Vila do Bispo. In spite of many new buildings and new connecting roads, the former fishing village has been able to preserve much of its charm. The streets of the village are partly very narrow but one has created parking areas above the beach and near many restaurants. However, it makes more sense, especially in the main season, to park in the northern outskirts and to walk the 200 m to the heart of the village.

In the village you find banks, a broad range of restaurants, cafés, bistros, snackbars and shops.
One way street? Far from it! In the village the streets are very narrow.
Much space for visitors and the renunciation of tower buildings shape the image of the village.
Parking places are scarce at the beach and in the village center during the season.
The beach of the village is located between the cliffs and thus protected from the wind. It can be reached via stairways.
Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro
The church (Igreja de Nossa Sra. do Perpétuo Socorro) in Burgau can only be recognised as such at second sight.
The interior surprises with pleasant simplicity.
