Only about 50 m away from the church is an old cobbler’s shop on the Rua de Prior (listed in the city map). Its proprietor has furnished, with labour and attention to detail, a small museum and shows everyday objects, pictures and finds from the vicinity.

The entrance is free! The owner, however, would be quite happy about your donation, which he would use for the preservation of his museum. He does not receive any public subsidies.

With enthusiasm the cobbler explains (in Portuguese) his encompassing collection. He can say something with regard to every object. Even if one does not understand the language, it is not boring. The proprietor’s joy and cordiality are typical for the people in the Algarve.

On many pictures the peasant life in that region is shown.

Musical instruments, cloths, dishes, tools and household items but also oddities have been collected in painstaking labour and are presented.

All rooms of the house are filled with collected objects, even the terrace is part of this lovely museum.
