The beaches of the district of Faro are situated upon the Península do Ancão, upon the Ilha da Barreta and the Ilha da Culatra.

Please drive toward the airport Faro. From the roundabout being directly in front of the airport you follow the signposting toward the beach. On the peninsula are diverse parking facilities at your disposal. 

There are beach bars, restaurants, snackbars, bistros, cafés and shops as well as sanitary facilities. 

Several aquatic sports are offered. 

Lifeguards are on the various beach sections.

There are accesses to the beach sections for people with disabilities as well as corresponding parking spaces.


Praia da Barreta
(Ilha da Barreta)

This beach can be reached exclusively by boat or ship from Faro and belongs, as the same-named island (inhabitated), to the natural reserve Ria Formosa. 

On the beach you will find sanitary facilities and a restaurant. Lifeguards are on the spot. 

Please do not disturb the here living and breeding birdlife!


Praia do Farol
Ilha da Culatra

The island can be reached from Faro by boat (during the summer months) just as from Olhão (all- year). The beach is directly by the beacon and the town. 

There are diverse restaurants and cafés as well as sanitary facilities. 

Lifeguards supervise swimming and bathing during the season. The currents are strong here!


Praia dos Hangares
Ilha da Culatra

Located east of the Praia do Farol. The island can be reached from Faro by boat (during the summer months) just as from Olhão (all-year).

The beach is very calm and peaceful.

There are strong currents!
