Santa Bárbara de Nexe is a small town and a community (about 4,150 inhabitants) in the county of Faro.
Coordinates: 37° 6′ N, 7° 58′ W
The small town is signposted on the N125 and in the urban area of Faro.
The locality is situated on the southern hills of the Serra de Monte Figo, roughly 12 km north of Faro. There are many viewpoints from where you can catch a spectacular glimpse onto Faro and the coast.
Santa Barbara offers the opportunity to recover from the beach hurly-burly. Diverse gastronomic establishments invite to make a stop at.
Modern housing complexes in the northern part of the place have arisen during the last years, besides the original architecture.
Calm and narrow backstreets as well as the typical houses shape the locality. In spite of the neighbourhood to Faro a countryside idyll has survived here. The periphery looks especially between January and May like a well kept and blooming garden.
Exactly in the main season parking is somewhat difficult. Simply put your vehicle right at the town entrance on one of the backstreets. From there to the town center it is only a few minutes´ walk.
