Museu do Trajo

The museum is well signposted in the town.

Directly by the museum you can turn left into the Rua Primeiro de Maio where parking places are at disposal.


The museum  shows clothing and life style of the region in the beginning of the 20th century.

Evening wear as well as workwear is here exposed. One small part shows pictures and models of soldiers in uniform.


Neither the Algarve was spared from the wars of the 20th century. 

Lifesize dolls present the clothing of the 20ies of the last century in a stylish setting.

In peak periods far more than 50 % of the world  production of cork came from Portugal. São Brás was for a very long period of time an important place for the production and the distribution. In an adjacent building is explained vividly how the harvest and the use of the natural product are handled. 

One building and a large shed are reserved for vehicles. From the state coach to the ordinary farm trailer everything is shown here. 

The museum disposes of a large patio on which exists also a small café. 

Water pumping is an important acitvity for the people of the region ever since all times. The well and the pumping technique can be viewn from inside.

Saturday and Sunday: 14 – 17 h
