Description of the beaches in the district of Lagoa starting from the Rio Arade up to Alporchinhos. Missing beaches can be reached very difficultly or only from water – but they will be added later.
Praia da Angrinha
The beach is by the eastern riverside of the Rio Arade at the foot of the hill of Ferragudo. The place is well signposted and the beach is located near the resort Vila Castelo. Close to the beach are parking places. There is no infrastructure, however, Ferragudo with its manifold opportunities is only about 300 m away.
The place Ferragudo and the beach are well signposted. As parking place the area in front of the Praia da Angrinha is recommendable, since the street is very narrow and often jammed by buses. From there it is a footpath of 250 m. The beach lies by the mouth of the Rio Arade. You have a magnificent view over the port entrance. You can thus, while swimming, even watch the cruisers when these enter the port of Portimão.
Restaurants, snackbars, cafés and sanitary facilities are on the beach.
During the season are lifeguards on site.
Praia do Molhe
On the coastal road between Ferragudo and Carvoeiro this beach is signposted. Above the beach is a parking area and a restaurant. If you take the coastal road toward east (coming from Carvoeiro and following the signposting), you enter the > Algarve Clube Atlantico < after roughly 5 km. Keep driving straight ahead up to a parking place from where a stairway of stone goes down to the beach. Alternatively, there is an access via Benagil from where an unpaved path (deep holes) goes to the cliffs above the beach.
The beach is known from former times also as smugglers’ beach. It can only be reached through a narrow tunnel. Due to the erosion there are many natural caves where goods could be hidden.
