Les animaux p\u00e8sent 9 \u00e0 15 kg et mesurent 85 \u00e0 110 cm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Sur le nombre initial, c&#8217;est-\u00e0-dire environ 100 000 animaux, il n&#8217;y avait qu&#8217;environ 100 animaux adultes en 2000. En particulier, la fragmentation de son habitat et la diss\u00e9mination volontaire du virus de la myxomatose (un agent pathog\u00e8ne de la variole cens\u00e9 limiter la population de lapins) dans les ann\u00e9es 1950 ont grandement contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la d\u00e9cimation extr\u00eame des populations de lynx.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Depuis 1999, on essaie de sauver les beaux animaux sur un terrain prot\u00e9g\u00e9 au nord-est de Silves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Le lynx ib\u00e9rique est nocturne et chasse en solitaire. Ses animaux de proie sont principalement les lapins (environ 50 \u00e0 60%).
