Santo Est\u00eav\u00e3o est une localit\u00e9 et \u00e9tait jusqu’en 2013 une municipalit\u00e9 ind\u00e9pendante (environ 1 170 habitants) du district de Tavira. Dans le cadre de la r\u00e9forme, la municipalit\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 fusionn\u00e9e avec Luz de Tavira \u00e0 l’Uni\u00e3o das Freguesias de Luz de Tavira e Santo Est\u00eav\u00e3o.<\/span><\/p>\n

L’endroit est situ\u00e9 \u00e0 environ 3 km \u00e0 l’ouest de Tavira sur la M514.<\/span><\/p>\n

Santo Est\u00eav\u00e3o est connu pour ses excellents vins et spiritueux. Les environs sont domin\u00e9s par l’agriculture; de nombreux amandiers et oliviers sont cultiv\u00e9s ici.<\/span><\/p>\n

La municipalit\u00e9 est dirig\u00e9e aujourd’hui de Luz de Tavira. L’endroit est calme et contemplatif.<\/span><\/p>\n

Il y a des banques, un bureau de poste, des restaurants, des caf\u00e9s et des magasins.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c0 l’origine, une chapelle m\u00e9di\u00e9vale se dressait au milieu de la localit\u00e9 d’aujourd’hui. Sur ses fondations, l’\u00e9glise Igreja Matriz de Santo Est\u00eav\u00e3o a probablement \u00e9t\u00e9 construite au XVIIe si\u00e8cle.<\/span><\/p>\n

L’\u00e9glise a \u00e9t\u00e9 transform\u00e9e au d\u00e9but du 18\u00e8me si\u00e8cle et rev\u00eatue d’une nouvelle fa\u00e7ade au 19\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. Enfin, en 1903, un nouveau portail principal a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit.<\/span><\/p>\n
