Benafim is a small town and was a community until 2012 (about 1,050 inhabitants) in the county of Loul\u00e9. In the course of reforms it has been merged, together with the community T\u00f4r, into the Uni\u00e3o das Freguesias de T\u00f4r e Benafim.<\/span><\/p>\n

The small town is situated by the N124 which crosses the M524-2 in the urban area.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Benafim lies within the hinterland of the Algarve. It is the very place for strolling with leisure.<\/span><\/p>\n

The P\u00e1tio de Dona Ant\u00f3nia is accessible to the public and reminds of the name giver (b. 1907 in Alvor – d. 2006 in Benafim).<\/span><\/p>\n

Coordinates: 37\u00b014’00.5″N 8\u00b007’18.6″W<\/span><\/p>\n

Dona Ant\u00f3nia owned the biggest farm of the Algarve.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the help of her prosperity she supported above all children and socially deprived people in the county of Loul\u00e9. She also contributed substantially to developing the infrastructure, social institutions and to maintaining the rural culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Gl\u00f3ria<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Gl\u00f3ria is located west of the village center and is signposted.<\/span><\/p>\n
