Queren\u00e7a is a community and a small town (about 750 inhabitants) at the southern foothills of the Serra do Caldeir\u00e3o in the county of Loul\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coordinates: 37\u00b0 12\u2032 N, 7\u00b0 59\u2032 W
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The locality is by the N396, about 10 km north of Loul\u00e9. In town are allocated parking spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n

Queren\u00e7a is a placid locality in the hinterland of the Algarve. The environs are agricultural.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The town center has been converted during the last years. It is untypical for the Algarve. One feels rather like relocated to Middle America. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The water museum being directly by the square is worth a visit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The explanations of how important water is for the region are quite vivid.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The community church was built between 1520 and 1530.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the earthquake of 1755 the building has been renovated.<\/span><\/p>\n

The layout and feel of the church is bright and pleasant. The altar is quite showy with its rich decorations.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The church can be visited during the mass and during the opening hours of the water museum. Please ask the friendly lady at the reception over there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
