Castelo de Loul\u00e9<\/span><\/h3>\n

The castle was built in the 8th century by the Moors. It is believed that there was an earlier, albeit much smaller defense facility.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coordinates: 37 \u00b0 08’22.7 “N 8 \u00b0 01’25.9” W<\/span><\/p>\n

Originally the wall was about 950 meters long. Unfortunately only 4 towers and a broad part of it have been preserved.<\/span><\/p>\n

Towers and walls can be visited. From there you have a beautiful view over the city and a panoramic view up to the Atlantic Ocean.<\/span><\/p>\n

Parts of the castle can also be visited, e.g. the yard with reconstructed defensive weapons.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Inside is a museum with finds from different eras.<\/span><\/p>\n

Roman and Moorish rulers left behind many earthenware pots that were found during excavations in today’s district.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coins and jewelery are also exhibited and documented.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

A kitchen scene is simulated in the museum and gives a clear picture of life and work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Admission: Adults = \u20ac 1.62 \u2022 Children = free<\/span><\/p>\n

The small museum is located in a narrow side street. It is not easy to get a parking space in the immediate vicinity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Until the 1980s, various fruits were dried here. The trade and export of this commodity brought prosperity to the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Amendoas (almonds) were and are a sought-after product, for example, for the production of marzipan. Furthermore, the pods of Alfarrobeira (carob tree) and Figos (figs) were dried here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm & 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm<\/span>
\nSaturday from 9:30 am to 4 pm<\/span>
