Ilha de Faro is the westernmost island of the Ria Formosa nature reserve. It is also called Pen\u00ednsula do Anc\u00e3o and for good reason. Actually, it is a peninsula that extends to the border with the district of Loul\u00e9 in the west.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the airport roundabout, the beach Praia do Faro is signposted. Please follow these signs.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are beaches to both the Atlantic and the lagoon, where especially children are well protected from the surf.<\/span><\/p>\n

Access is via a single-lane bridge; traffic is controlled with traffic lights. Waiting times can be expected during the high season.<\/span><\/p>\n

The main car park is located directly at the island’s access bridge. More parking spaces are on the right and left side of the streets.<\/span><\/p>\n

Until the 1980s, it was often built here without a permit. The development changes from the modern villa to the wooden hut, which is built directly on sand in the dunes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are various shops, small supermarkets, restaurants, snack bars on the island.<\/span><\/p>\n

To the west you will find a continuous beach to the district of Loul\u00e9 and Quinta do Lago.<\/span><\/p>\n

A wooden walkway is situated to the east above the dunes, to almost the eastern tip of the peninsula.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
