Arma\u00e7\u00e3o de P\u00eara is a community and a town (about 4,900 inhabitants) in the county of Silves.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coordinates: 37\u00b0 8\u2032 N, 8\u00b0 22\u2032 W<\/span><\/p>\n

The townscape is characterised by apartment houses that have been built in the 1970ies. In the midst of the last decade the traffic has been banished from the beach promenade. The pedestrian zone above the beach that has been created in the course of this action is remarkable and seduces to stroll about.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe town has been and still is a popular holiday spot for Portuguese from the north of the country who\u00a0 possessed in the past and still have many apartments here.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the meantime life on the promenade of the town goes a cosmopolitical way. Today tourists from many different countries visit Arma\u00e7\u00e3o de P\u00eara and its great beaches.<\/span><\/p>\n

In and around the pedestrian zone are various banks, the post office, diverse restaurants, caf\u00e9s, bistros, snackbars, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAt the eastern edge of the town is the Praia dos Pescadores. From here fishermen daily go out to sea. Several typical restaurants offering tasty fish dishes are located here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Capela de Santo Ant\u00f3nio<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/span>
\nDirectly in the pedestrian zone is the Fortaleza de Arma\u00e7\u00e3o de P\u00eara that was built in the year 1571. The Capela de Santo Ant\u00f3nio of the year 1720 is situated within this fortification.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe interior of the chapel is modest. The walls are in part covered with the typical Azulejos (tiles).<\/span><\/p>\n

Igreja Matriz de Arma\u00e7\u00e3o de P\u00eara<\/span><\/h3>\n

\nThe Igreja Matriz de Arma\u00e7\u00e3o de P\u00eara was erected and finished in 1960 with the help of donations from the inhabitants.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe interior of the church is bright and friendly.<\/span><\/p>\n
