The cliffs in the county of Portim\u00e3o extend over roughly 2500 m from the Praia do Vau to Prainha. When going on a hike you best start at the Praia do Vau, where you will find good and sufficient parking facilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAt the eastern starting point the paths are beaten well and you can always walk relatively near the edge. Getting lost is impossible here. Every few steps you catch a new sight over the Atlantic coast. In part the way goes through shade-giving pine groves.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>
\nPartly the cliffs are rugged and form weird shapes. A beautiful view onto Portim\u00e3o and its beaches.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>
\nThe coast is altering continuously because of the erosion, keeping a bit of distance to the edge is a must-do for your own sake.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>
\nBelow the cliffs are bathing bays and beaches that partly can be reached only from the water.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\"\"<\/span>
\nView toward Alvor and behind it, on the horizon, the bay of Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>
\nA naturally formed Seco. On the bottom one can watch the seawater undermining the cliffs. You will find this kind of hole quite right in the middle of this track. A bridge with metal grills leads to the middle of the Seco so that one can look down to the bottom without danger.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nIn the second half of the track the paths become much steeper and narrower. From here on it becomes difficult to recognize the right track when you come up against junctions. Nothing is signposted here.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe cliffs above Prainha. Sturdy shoes and sufficient beverages should not be lacking on any hiking tour.<\/span><\/p>\n
