About 2,5 km southwest of Lagos one of the most spectacular viewpoints of the Algarve is located upon a promontory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coordinates: 37\u00b004’50.2″N 8\u00b040’10.3″W<\/span><\/p>\n

Arriving from Lagos please firstly follow the signposting > Praias <. As soon as you have abandoned the N125, the Ponta is signposted. There is a big parking area directly in front of the beacon.<\/span><\/p>\n

You find a restaurant \/ caf\u00e9 and little shops with souvenirs and swimwear on the parking area.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can also walk (about 3 km) from the market hall situated at the promenade of Lagos. Along the street it takes approximately 45 minutes. Traversing the cliffs along the coast takes clearly longer, however, it is definitely much more beautiful and tranquil.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the season you can also use the holiday shuttles (trains) between Piedade and Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the Marina in Lagos you can boat along the coast, visit the caves and circumnavigate the cape. The tours are quite cheap. The fee depends on the range of services. <\/span>
\nTIP: Only at low water (ebb tide) all caves can be visited.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe beacon on the Ponta da Piedade.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe facility is in operation and cannot be visited.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nView eastbound over the bay of Lagos. Portim\u00e3o and Ferragudo are visible to the naked eye.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nView westbound, past Porto de Mos towards Sagres.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

At the southeast point of the cape goes a stairway with 194 stairs down to a jetty. Depending on the season you can leave from here for a cave tour.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe rock formations are bizarre. Many of them look like animals and are named so by the residents.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe sight changes with every step. Below the cliffs are small and very beautiful bathing bays. The descent is difficult. In parts you can reach the bays only from the water.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe rock and limestone formations look different at all times of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n
