The western part of the Algarve comprises the\u00a0counties\u00a0of\u00a0Lagos, Monchique, Vila do Bispo and Aljezur. The west coast, in large parts, is still very pristine, and it is a natural reserve (Costa Vicentina). Everything here is a bit harsher, steeper and the surf is wilder.<\/span><\/p>\n

The west coast of the Algarve is spectacular. It is 55 km of diversified coast mainly consisting of rocks and punctuated with beautiful beaches.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nStarting from Lagos the Portuguese circumnavigated Africa. Furthermore, they found a sea route to India, to China and in 1543 they discovered Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n
