{"id":1148,"date":"2018-09-25T10:23:27","date_gmt":"2018-09-25T09:23:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp13239037.server-he.de\/?page_id=1148"},"modified":"2020-02-02T14:05:29","modified_gmt":"2020-02-02T14:05:29","slug":"ilha-de-tavira","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/algarvemoods.com\/en\/ilha-de-tavira\/","title":{"rendered":"Ilha de Tavira"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The sand island Ilha de Tavira is about 11 km long and lies west of the mouth of the Rio Gil\u00e3o.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Coordinates: 37 \u00b0 06&#8217;41.0 &#8220;N 7 \u00b0 37&#8217;22.0&#8221; W<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">You can arrive by ferry from Tavira (Praia da Ilha de Tavira) or Santa Luzia (Praia da Terra Estreita). The travel times are seasonal. Alternatively, you can take a taxi boat from there.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">From the holiday resort of Pedras d&#8217;El Rei (about 1.2 km west of Santa Luzia) you can reach the island via a pedestrian bridge. Parking is available near the bridge, sometimes for a fee. On the island there is then a walkable footpath (about 20 minutes) or a steam narrow-gauge railway that goes to the Praia do Barril. The fare is \u20ac 3 for round trip.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><div class='content-column two_third'><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">The liveliest area of the island is at the eastern end, just before the mouth of the Rio Gil\u00e3o. Parallel to the narrow-gauge railway, a good footpath leads directly to the beach. Today, the &#8220;Cemit\u00e9ro das \u00c3ncoras&#8221; (Anchor Cemetery), with more than 100 anchors, is a place of interest and a memorial against the overfishing of the sea. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The sand island Ilha de Tavira is about 11 km long and lies west of the mouth of the Rio Gil\u00e3o.
